Nakuru Senatorial aspirant 2027 Dr Peter Mbae is now demanding that Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen be held accountable over sentiments he made on April 14, 2025 purporting that the outcome of 2027 Presidential elections is already determined.
Through his lawyers, Mbae has written to the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Interior under reference ‘Utterances in the election outcome in the 2027 Presidential elections’
In the letter received by the Ministry on April 16, 2015, Dr Mbae argues that the statement made by CS Murkomen and aired in media was to effect that the outcome of 2027 Presidential elections is predetermined and that President William Ruto will win under all circumstances.
Mbae who is a peace and conflict resolution expert, further argues that Murkomen is in a serious docket and such utterances should not be taken lightly.
According to him, Article 38(2) of the constitution of Kenya is very clear on political rights of every citizens and should not be interfered with by anyone or any institution or government.
“With such utterances implying the that the President’s win in 2027 Presidential elections is predetermined, then the citizens rights under Article 38 are at risk of being fundamentally breached,” stated Mbae through the letter.
Through his Lawyers, Dr Mbae now wants the CS to issue a statement retracting the statement made on April 14 and affirm to citizens that the rights of citizens under Article 38 will be safeguarded and that the will of the people shall be respected.
That the CS confirms to Kenyans that state shall use all means possible to ensure free, fair and transparent 2027 general elections.
Mbae further wants CS Murkomen to confirm that State shall guarantee citizens peaceful elections period devoid of any violence, suppression and intimidation.
In line with Dr Mbae’s instructions, the lawyers revealed that a copy of the letter has been sent to Prosector International Criminal Court (ICC) for a prompt, immediate and urgent interventions by the court to open investigations on the Kenyan situation so as to prevent possibility of a repeat of 2007 violence.
Mbae argues that with the current conduct of senior government officials, the prompt intervention by ICC is of paramount importance for the immediate well-being, peace, stability and protection of the human rights of the people of Kenya.
