Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki has urged beneficiaries of the Nyota Project to prudently use the funds to boost their various businesses.
Speaking in Nakuru on Friday July 10, 2026 during the disbursement of tranche 2 of the Nyota Project Fund, Kindiki noted that prudent use of the funds can help empower young entrepreneurs.
The DP who was joined by Nakuru Deputy Governor David Kones, Nakuru MPs, MCAs among others lauded the Nyota Project twerking it a great move towards economic empowerment.
He noted that many youth were suffering with lack of Capital to start businesses hence the reason why the government started the Nyota Project.
This even as Government has disbursed 3 billion shillings being a second tranche, to 122,000 NYOTA project beneficiaries drawn from all the 47 Counties of Kenya.
Each beneficiary will have received 50,000 in total as business capital support.
According to Kindiki, Business Development Support is one of the four components of the NYOTA project.
Cumulatively, 1 million youths will benefit from this component, and from the On the Job Experience (OJE), Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO).
During the event, several beneficiaries narrated their stories.
Disbursement meetings ran concurrently in 18 different locations, beneficiaries from a cluster of counties congregating at a central location.
Kindiki spoke when he presided over the disbursement event for Nakuru, Baringo and Nyandarua Counties, where 8,958 beneficiaries received their grant at Nakuru ASK grounds.
