CS Kinyanjui lauds RIVA Petroleum for setting pace on how family business can transition to next generation

Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry Lee Kinyanjui has lauded RIVA Petroleum for setting a good example on how family businesses can successfully transition from one generation to the next.

Speaking in Nakuru during the Company’s 30th Anniversary, CS Kinyanjui stated that this is the way to go when it comes to family businesses.

“I am impressed by the active involvement of the family’s daughters in the business. Building institutions that outlive their founders requires deliberate succession planning, and RIVA Petroleum is setting an example of how family businesses can successfully transition from one generation to the next,” he stated.

Kinyanjui noted that the story of RIVA Petroleum is one that should be told and celebrated, but more importantly worth replicating.

According to Kinyanjui, every successful Kenyan company has a story, more often than not, it is a story of resilience, persistence and the courage to keep going despite the odds.

He at the same time noted that companies founded in Nakuru can grow into nationally recognized brands that create jobs, drive investment and contribute significantly to nation’s economy.

“RIVA Petroleum’s growth from a local enterprise into a national player demonstrates the power of consistency and long-term vision. It also reminds us that the role of Government is to create an enabling environment where businesses can start, grow and thrive,” he stated.

While pointing out the inspiring company’s partnership with VIVO Energy and the support it has received from Kenya Commercial Bank, Kinyanjui said it is proof that when local enterprises have access to strategic partnerships and finance, they can scale, compete and succeed.

The event was also graced by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Nakuru Deputy Governor David Kones, KCB Group Managing Director Paul Russo, and VIVO Energy Kenya Managing Director Peter Murungi among others.
