The National Government has issued a directive towards addressing perennial human-wildlife conflict.
This was revealed by Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki.
The DP who spoke in Njoro Subcounty in Friday during an empowerment program said the government had already issued a directive to Kenya Wildlife Service over their stray animals.
Kindiki used the moment to send message of condolences to one family in Lare, Njoro whose son was attacked and killed by stray hyenas from Lake Nakuru Game Park Naishi side.
He revealed that he will be sending area MP Charity Kathambi to convey the message.
” I have had about the challenges facing residents especially those neighbouring our park. In the same spirit we are disturbed by recent incident where a 14 year old boy was attacked and killed by hyenas in Lare. I want to convey my condolences though I will also send MP Kathambi. But let me bring to you attention that the government has issued a directive to KWS to ensure they tame their animals and avert future such cases. We cannot continue to have death occasioned by stray wildlife,” stated Kindiki.
The DP was responding to MP Kathambi’s request over increased human-wildlife conflicts in Njoro.
The who last week visited the family, was categorical that such should be addressed to avert devastating moments for families.
