Democracy for Citizens Party Nakuru Chapter has told off State over harassment of Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua.
Addressing Press in Nakuru on May 21, 2025, members of the party led by Secretary General Simon Sangale Ole Nasieku maintained that they strongly stand against state harassment and intimidation facing the DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua and his Allies.
‘Fellow Kenyans,we,the DCP Nakuru Chapter, stand at a critical crossroads for our democracy. Over the past months,we have witnessed a disturbing pattern of state-sponsored harassment and violence targeted at the People’s Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua-the
voice dissent. These attacks aim to silence opposition but have only strengthened our resolve,” read the statement.
In the statement, DCP Nakuru Chapter was clear that there has been a pattern of political persecution.
According to members, on 28th November 2024, during a funeral in Limuru,Kiambu County, the People’s Deputy President,Riggy G, faced a violent attack where hired thugs vandalized vehicles in his convoy and assaulted mourners, while police reportedly stood by without intervening.
On 28th December 2024,at a peaceful prayer meeting in Shamata, Nyandarua County,
police officers threw tear gas at the VIP podium where Rigathi Gachagua was seated,
causing chaos and endangering worshippers, yet security forces failed to protect the attendees.
On 23rd March 2025,at ACK St.Peter’s Cathedral in Nyeri,armed gangs disrupted a
church service attended by Rigathi Gachagua, pelting worshippers with stones in an orchestrated attempt to intimidate the opposition.
On 29th March 2025,in Naivasha town, heavily armed police officers led by the local
OCPD violently dispersed a peaceful public gathering with, Rigathi Gachagua
beating innocent citizens instead of maintaining order.
The members called on to ensure protection of innocent Kenyans and allow democracy to thrive.
Meanwhile, the chapter noted that registration of new members will commence soon.
