Businessman Maina Wakabura has condemned violence meted on activist Daisy Achieng alias Achichy.
In a statement, Wakabura termed such as senseless violence.
“I strongly condemn the senseless violence meted on Daisy Achichy a courageous advocate for women rights,” he stated.
According to Wakabura, Daisy has been on the forefront as a dedicated fearless human rights defender in Nakuru and beyond.
He pointed out that such brutality against a woman who has dedicated her life to empower others is both heartbreaking and totally unacceptable.
“Violence in any form has no place in our society especially when directed at those who stand up for justice, equality and dignity,” stated Wakabura.
Wakabura who has declared interest in Nakuru Town East Parliamentary seat 2027, added that the attack on Daisy is not only a crime against an individual but also an assault on the values as a community.
He called on relevant authorities to ensure a swift and thorough investigations is done and those responsible brought to justice.
According to Wakabura, there is need for concerted effort to protect and uplift those who fight for the voiceless, and ensure that no one is ever silenced through fear or intimidation.
“It is a matter of urgency to collectively build a safer and more just society where women can lead, speak and act without fear,” he stated.
While demanding justice for Daisy, Wakabura also used the moment to appreciate the good Samaritan who took Daisy to Hospital.
Daisy who went missing for two days was found by Samaritan and taken to hospital where she is receiving medication.
Earlier in the day, Human Rights Defenders visited her at the facility.
