CS Linturi reiterates Government’s measures to tackle food insecurity

The National Government is putting in place several measures that will help tackle food insecurity in the country.

Such measures include distribution of subsidized fertilizer to farmers, reducing post harvest losses among others.

Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development Mithika Linturi says these measures and many others will go a long way in ensuring the country is food secured.

Linturi spoke in Nakuru on Friday July 5, 2027 during the official opening of the Nakuru National Agricultural Show, 2024.

He encouraged farmers to take advantage of favourable climating conditions, to plant more trees especially the fruit trees to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Sentiments echoed by Nakuru Deputy Governor David Kones.

The DG revealed that Nakuru County has established 16 last mile stores to assist farmers access the Government’s Subsidized Fertilizer.

The County has also partnered with Hello Tractor to assist farmers with mechanization equipment for land preparation and harvesting.

The ceremony was also attended by ASK National Chairperson Mrs. Annabelle Kirinya, Dr. Perminus Migwi, Chairman of Nakuru ASK Show, County Secretary Dr. Samuel Mwaura, CECM for Agriculture Leonard Bor, CECM for Public Service Management Jacqueline Osoro, Chief Officer Livestock Development and Veterinary Services Dr. Michael Cheruiyot, ICT Chief Officer Catherine Changwony, London Ward MCA Bernard Gatuso among other County, national and ASK officials.
