The Government is committed to addressing challenges facing Nakuru-based Pyrethrum Processing Company.
Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe says the government will take care of the pyrethrum Factory and farmers.
Speaking on Thursday July 3, 2025 when he made his first visit to the Company, CS Kagwe was categorical that he has received a brief of all the challenges facing the company among them financial constraints that has seen workers go for some months without salary.
Kagwe who inaugurated the new Board of Directors led by Chairman Granton Samboja, added that he will work closely with the Board to ensure the restoration of pyrethrum farming.
The CS encouraged workers at the factory to support the government as it works to address the challenges that have been facing the facility.
“We are working hard to make sure that we solve the challenges facing the company. We want to ensure our pyrethrum farmers,” he stated.
The CS maintained that institutions should be safeguarded.
Pyrethrum Processing Company Board chair Granton Samboja on his part lauded the CS for the commitment towards addressing the challenges within the company.
It should be noted that Samboja was appointed as Chair by President William Ruto in May.
He will serve for a period of not less than 3 years.
The Government in partnership with the 19 pyrethrum growing counties, is working to ensure full revival of the cash crop’s production by providing the necessary resources and incentives.
With a fully reconstituted PPCK Board of Directors, the Government hopes to revive the sector through proper governance.
