A delegation of Members of the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining has concluded the public participation exercise on proposed Forestry Conservation and Management(Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Members section of the Committee led by Njoro Constituency Member of Parliament Charity Kathambi- Chepkwony held its last forum in Nakuru County, before retreating to write its report this weekend.
The legislative proposal seeks to strengthen the forestry legal framework to address emerging challenges in the climate change, environmental degradation and advance sustainable natural resource management.
There is a provision on establishing forests and Payment for Ecosystem Service (PES) that will benefit the Community.
The Committee has visited counties to collect views on the Bill and will now do a Report to be tabled in the National Assembly for consideration.
