Boost to Livestock farmers as county steps in with training under Kenya Livestock Commercialization Project

Farmers in Nakuru County will have a reason to smile as Nakuru County, through the Kenya Livestock Commercialization Project, commenced a Gender Action Learning System (GALS) basic tools training for various implementing stakeholders from the four project implementing wards.

Some of the key issues that are to be addressed through GALS include the development of individual, household, and group vision to achieve social and financial capital, greater productivity, higher profit, and improved nutritional well-being.

Additionally, Joint decision-making of group and household resources and opportunities at all levels of the value chain- planning, production, harvesting, marketing, and consumption, including joint decisions in investment or use of profits, among others.

The forum helped to create awareness of the KeLCoP’s Gender and Youth Action Plan to the team.

The team later visited two farmer groups in the Maaimaihiu ward on the practical implementation of the tool.

Present during the training were county officials and officials from KELCOP.
