Bernard Miruka is the Orange Democratic Movement Party Nakuru County Chairman following grassroot elections held in Gilgil Town at the Gilgil Stadium on Monday August 25, 2025.
Miruka garnered 48 votes against his only competitor Denis Okomol’s 4 votes through Mlolongo voting.
The ODM grassroot elections for Nakuru County were overseen by ODM Nakuru Elections Chairman William Ating’a.
Speaking before the commencement of the exercise, Ating’a who once served as a councillor in defunct Nakuru Council pointed out that the election is key in strengthening the party.
Ating’a was categorical that the elected 20 officials at the county level should work closely with the members for the betterment of the party.
The exercise was presided over by Mr. Victor Omondi, assisted by clerks.
Bernard Miruka and Denis Okomol were the only contestants for the ODM County Chair position.
Earlier attempts for consensus between the two failed to materialize leading to elections.
Peter Palang’a(MCA Olkaria) was elected unopposed as Vice Chair.
Mr. Wycliffe Mararo won the Secretary seat garnering 39 votes against Hilton Abiola’s 14 votes.
Organizing Secretary position would later go with Hilton Abiola unopposed.
Meanwhile, Former Kivumbini Ward councillor Risper Auma clinched the Treasurer’s position unopposed while Ms Belinda Guya clinched the Women League Representative seat unopposed.
Youth Representative position went with Suleiman Wangila who got 10 votes Against opponents Colins Omondi and Mulla Marcel who got 8 and 4 votes respectively.
Other slots that were filled during the elections included the special interest group and disability league reps.
The party had earlier indicated that No secret ballot would be used in the elections and that only verified delegates were allowed to participate in the elections.
The exercise was graced by MCAs Peter Palang’a(Olkaria) and Keziah Okumu(Nominated).
