Traders at Athinai Market in Rongai Sub county will soon have a reason to smile following the upcoming of ultra modern market in the area.
The over 1200 traders are among the beneficiaries of a Market Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP).
This is a program being undertaken jointly by the National and County Government.
According to County Government of Nakuru, the project intends to boost economic growth targeting small scale traders in line with the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise economy pillar.
This, even as on Tuesday July 9, 2024 Nakuru County Trade Chief Executive Member toured the Market assuring the residents of Government’s support.
Kuria said once completed, the ultra -modern market will have enough space to accommodate traders who are currently operating in an open- air market and significantly large numbers of new traders.
Situated along the busy highway from Kampi ya Moto to Mogotio, the open air market is a shoppers paradise for buyers and sellers of food items and clothes.
The move is in line with the agenda of Governor Susan Kihika which aims in ensuring a conducive environment for traders.
The event was also graced by area MCA Deguelle Naburuki.
