Many in Nakuru know him as a human rights defender, who has continued to advocate for the rights moreso on matters reproductive health rights.
This is none other than Martin Lunalo Minyatta.
After serving in the field of human rights advocacy, Lunalo has declared interest in the Nakuru Town East Parliamentary seat.
Lunalo who currently serves as the Executive Director Reproductive Health Champion Organization(RHCO), reveals that he will be contesting for the seat come 2027 General Elections.
With rich experience in advocacy, Lunalo believes it is the right time that he ventures into politics as a platform to ensure proper legislation and policies are in place.
He believes that young people have a chance to take leadership positions in the country and bring about the change that is needed.
Born and raised in Mumbetsa village of Ikolomani Constituency, of Kakamega County, the youthful Lunalo says Nakuru County is his second home county, adding that he is ready for the political battle ahead.
Currently living in the cosmopolitan Kivumbini Ward, Lunalo differs with the perception that the youth are violent and causing insecurity.
According to him, young people are very innovative and they just need empowerment in their areas.
“The young people have immense potential and can be resourceful if well empowered and given more opportunities,” he said.
Lunalo says he has great strategy in developing the constituency should he clinch the seat by investing in the youth.
It should be noted that Lunalo was part of the current Kivumbini Ward MCA Neto Sakwa’s campaign team in 2022 that saw him clinch the seat on independent ticket.
Though not yet declared which party he will be contesting with, Lunalo says he understands Nakuru Town East Constituency well and once the campaigns kick off, he will reach out to all and bond with electorates as he has been doing through his charity initiatives.
“I am ready to bring change in this Constituency through legislations and policies. When the time comes I will hit the road as I explain what exactly I want to do for Nakuru Town East Constituents,” stated Lunalo.
It should be noted that the current MP David Gikaria has declared interest in Nakuru Senatorial seat come 2027.
Others who have declared interest in the Nakuru Town East Parliamentary seat come 2027 are Menengai East Ward MCA Wilson Mwangi Wajeff, Businessmen Maina Wakabura and Bernard Nguruna among others.
