Once again, Coffee Farmers closed the week on a high note following the disbursement of Ksh.126,915,417 Coffee Cherry Advance Revolving Fund (CCARF) to some 2,955 beneficiaries in 15 counties between June 10-17.
Co-operatives Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui has revealed that the highest beneficiary was Kiremba Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS) in Nakuru County whereby 345 Coffee Farmers got Ksh.27, 236, 300.
On the other hand, King’oti FCS in Machakos County registered the highest number of beneficiaries in a society where 616 farmers benefited from the Cherry Fund.
The Cherry Fund is one of the key aspects of the Coffee Reforms that the government initiated earlier in the year and all indicators show that the reforms are bearing fruits.
“The Kenya Kwanza administration identified the coffee subsector as the priority value chains necessary to spur agricultural development and turnaround the economy in line with the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda,” stated Chelugui.
The optimism is palpable in the coffee growing areas.
