Mututho wants MPs to fast track Narcotics Bill

Former Nacada Boss John Mututho has called on National Assembly to expedite the Narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances Amendment Bill 2020.

He says the passage of the Bill into law will see increased punitive measures to offenders and their collaborators including those entrusted to arrest the vice.

Speaking at Muchorwe,Nyota Ward in Kuresoi North, Mututho said the MPs should fast track the Bill so that the law is in place before December this year.

This be says will effectively curd drug menace in forthcoming festivity particularly among youths.

“We can’t continue losing young lives  to drugs and illicit brew and that is why we want to call on MPs to expedite the Bill on narcotics and psychotropic substances before December” he said.

The former Naivasha MP was addressing mourners at Muchorwe during the burial of Johana Kipkirui Koech whose death was linked to drugs and substance abuse.

The late is said to have been sodomized by a section of drunk youths in the area while from a den of illicit brew.

Mututho condemned the incident calling on security team in Nakuru led by County Commissioner Erastus Mbui and Police Commander Tito Kilonzi to take action and end illicit brew in the area.

Shock as illicit brew dens claim lives in Kuresoi at the watch of security team

Former Nacada Boss John Mututho has hit out at security team in Nakuru over rising cases of Drugs and substance abuse in Muchorwe area, Nyota Ward in Kuresoi North.

He was speaking in the area on Tuesday during the burial of Johana Koech whose body was found lying near an illicit brew den.

The late is said to have been sodomized by youths after a drinking session leading to his death.

While condoling with the family,Mututho faulted the security team led by Nakuru county Commissioner Erastus Mbui and county Police Commander Tito Kilonzi for not taking action against the illicit brewers.

According to Mututho,it is shameful that ilicit brew has continued to claim lives of youth in the area  at the watch of security team.

He noted that he has information of illicit brewers being protected by security team at the expense of lives.

While decrying the over 15 youths who have lost their lives in the area due to ilicit brew, Mututho has vowed to lead mega demonstration in Muchorwe to ensure an end to illicit brew.

He called on the goverment through Interior CS Dr.Fred Matiang’i to act and transfer security team that is protecting the illicit brewers.

“We cannot continue to have lives lost due to drugs and substance abuse.We call on security team to move with speed and address this menace.Let the county Commissioner wake up” said Mututho.

Sentiments echoed by Human Rights deffender Simon Ole Nasieku.

Addressing mourners, Nasieku said the security team for failing to address the issue of illicit brews.

He has called for the transfer of security team in the area and new team deployed.

According to Nasieku,it was wrong for police to use teargas against innocent locals who were demonstrating over illicit brew in the area.

“The police are not ashamed to lob teargas on Iocals demonstrating against ilicit brew.Let the security team act or be transferred if they are defeated” said Nasieku.
