On the advice of the Defence Council, President William Ruto upheld the Council’s recommendations and made various promotions, postings and appointments of Kenya Defence Forces Officers as follows:
Major General Charles Muriu Kahariri has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed the Vice Chief of the Defence Forces. He replaces Lieutenant General Jonah Maina Mwangi whose term has come to an end after 42 years of service.
Further, the President promoted and appointed Major General David Kimaiyo Tarus to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed him the Commander Kenya Army.
Lieutenant General David Kimaiyo Tarus, replaces Lieutenant General Peter Mbogo Nir whose term has come to an end after 39 years of service.
Until his appointment as Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Kimaiyo Tarus was the Deputy Army Commander.
The President has also promoted and appointed Major General Jimson Longiro to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed him Vice Chancellor National Defence University – Kenya.
Until his appointment Lieutenant General Jimson Longiro was the Commander Kenya Navy.
Consequently, the President has also promoted and appointed Brigadier Thomas Njoroge Ng’ang’a to the rank of Major General and appointed him the Commander Kenya Navy.
Until he was appointed Commander, Kenya Navy, he was the Base Commander Kenya Navy Base Manda.
Maj. Gen. Juma Shee Mwinyikai has been promoted to Lieutenant General and appointed commandant of the National Defense College, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Nur Hassan has been posted to Headquarters Kenya Army and appointed Deputy Army Commander, Brig. Luka Kipkemoi Kutto promoted to Maj. Gen. And appointed General officer commanding eastern command.
Maj Gen Aphaxard Kiugu posted to Kenya Military Academy and appointed commandant, Brig. Peter Shikoku chelimo posted to Kenya Navy Headquarters and appointed Navy Commander and Brig. Yahya Abdi posted to National Defence College and appointed Senior Directing Staff, Navy.
The President also assented to various changes across the rank and file of the Kenya Defence Forces in line with the advice of the Defense Council.
