Preparations on top gear for the WRC Safari Rally

Preparations are on top gear for WRC Safari Rally to be held in Naivasha over Easter Weekend.

The event will have positive impact to the economy of Nakuru county especially in the hospitality sector.

On Wednesday March 6, 2024, Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika held a fruitful meeting with a multi-agency team preparing for the WRC Safari Rally.

The team led by Mr Evans Achoki from Ministry of Sports and Safari Rally Kenya CEO, Charles Gacheru, assured that everything is going well towards the event.

Governor Kihika called on the team to ensure Nakuru as the host is well represented in the preparations.

“As the host County, there is need for more involvement in the preparations for the event and to ensure that our people fully benefit from the event in terms of roads, casual employees, food vending, entertainment and waste management,” she stated.

Kihika added that for such a high profile event, Nakuru County will give it’s best hospitality to the rally enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, it is plus for Nakuru as Safari Rally Kenya Team welcomed Governor Kihika’s proposal to help convert one TVET institution in the county into a centre of Excellence.

This will help in terms of training on matters motor sports.

“I am glad the Safari Rally Kenya team agreed with my proposal to convert one TVET institution in Nakuru County into a Centre of Excellence to train top notch mechanics and prepare our kids in motor sports,” she said.

In addition, the team will also contribute some equipment to Naivasha Sub County Hospital for emergencies during the event which will begin on March 27, 2024 and end on March 31.
