Pomp, color as Kericho hosts inaugural Kipsigis Cultural festival

It was pomp and color on Thursday November 7, 2024 as residents from all walks and corners of Kericho gathered at the Kiprugut Chumo Kericho Green Stadium to mark the inaugural Kipsigis Cultural festival which was marked as part of the Kipsigis Cultural Week .

The colorful event which sought to celebrate the rich Kipsigis Culture and heritage saw the display of traditional Kipsigis regalia,rites,music ,foods and indigenous medicine was presided over by Kericho Governor Dr.Erick Mutai.

Speaking during the function,the county boss persuaded by the events success promised to make it annual.

The Governor also announced that the county government eager to preserve the rich Kipsigis Culture and heritage will construct a culture and heritage and culture museum in Kericho town.

The event characterized by song and dance is the first of its kind in the Kipsigis nation and proved to unite residents through shared connections, rites foods and music.

The Governor was flanked by various dignitaries, including Education CECM Judith Chirchir, CO Richard Tonui, MCAs Martin Cheruiyot (Kapkugerwet, Host), Anita Biegon (Chemosot), Mathew Korir (Chaik), Vincent Kirui (Litein), Kipngeno Kirui (Tebesonik), and Myoot Council of Elders Chairperson Richard Ngeno, among others.
