Nakuru-based philanthropist Rani Ramchandani on Friday November 1, 2024 marked her 45th Birthday and Diwali in a special way with the vulnerable families at Gioto Dumpsite in Nakuru West Sub County.
The event that was also graced by Nakuru East Senior Deputy County Commissioner Werre Simiyu, saw Rani Ramchandani and members of Team share a meal with the families.
They also made a donation food and non food items to the families that now call Gioto Dumpsite their home.
Donation included sanitary pads, some plastic bowls for eating, Clothes, Shoes and served hot meals, cakes and sweets to 500.
Speaking to Journalists after the event, Rani who is also the founder of Rani Ramchandani Foundation, revealed that helping the vulnerable is close to her heart.
According to Rani, the vulnerable in society are also special people who should be treated with much love.
“I don’t like it when society refers to them as vulnerable or less fortunate. I believe these families too are special in one way or another,” she stated.
Rani assured that she will continue to assist persons living with disability in society.
She noted that through the provision of mobility assistance items, then the PWDs are able to go on with their normal duties.
She called on other well wishers in society to join in making a better society for all.
“We all have responsibility to make a better society. When I help these lot of people I feel blessed and that is the good thing,” she stated.
Pastor Kennedy Otieno who has been lending a hand of help to the families at Gioto lauded Rani Ramchandani Foundation and the team for the gesture.
While pointing out that the families are from humble set-up, the clergy added that gesture by team Rani Ramchandani gives them hope in life that they can become great people in life.
The clergy revealed that through support from well-wishers, they have been able to start some economic empowerment programs such as the Poultry and pig Projects that are doing well.
“Such feeding Programs help these greatly. When we fail to do so, then some end up in the garbage in the neighborhood Gioto Dumpsite,” he stated.
The team later congregated at the home of one of their members Christine Khalisa for a surprise birthday celebration for Rani Ramchandani where they shared a meal and a cake cutting session as they wished her more years of God’s Blessings.
Speaking after the event Christine revealed that they decided to surprise Rani Ramchandani with the Birthday celebration.
According to Christine, Rani is so much into charity works that a times she forgets about treating herself.
“She even didn’t know that we are doing this for as it was just a surprise. We decided to honor her by preparing this just to appreciate her,” she stated.
It should be noted that Rani Ramchandani who is also the current President Lions Club of Menengai, has continued to impact the society through her charity works with signature project being the mobility assistance items to the PWDs.
