Nakuru good governance champion and defender of Constitutionalism Mr. Joseph Omondi has urged Kenyans to reflect deeply on matters constitutionalism.
Omondi who is also the Executive Director MIDRIFT HURINET, stated that Kenyans have a responsibility towards safeguarding the constitution.
While noting the several milestones made in terms of implementation of the constitution, he pointed out that there is still more to be done in strengthening constitutional institutions.
According to him, August 27 is not just a day to remember, but to reflect deeply.
“Today marks fifteen years since the 2010 Constitution was born; a moment not just to remember, but to reflect deeply, renew our nation, and reclaim our shared responsibility,” he stated.
Omondi who spoke in Nakuru during Uwazi Festival 2025, added that democracy is not self-exciting, it thrives when citizens are informed, when government is transparent and when youth are empowered to shape the future they deserve.
“The Uwazi Festival reminds us that access to information is not just a constitutional right- it is the lifeblood of accountability, integrity and meaningful participation,” he said.
According to Omondi, through poetry, music, art, dialogue and technology, the Festival demonstrates that civic engagement can be vibrant, creative and unapologetically people-centred.
The event was organized by Nakuru based Lobby group Tribeless Youth to celebrate Katiba@15.
Omondi lauded the visionaries and partners behind the Festival for creating space where ideas meet action, where activism meets art and where shared dream for a just Kenya finds renewed energy.
It is an event that brought together several civil society groups in Nakuru, as well as reknown artists who are using their work to champion for good governance.
It should be noted that the Kenya Constitution was promulgated on August 27, 2010 paving for a new dawn in the country.
The constitution among other aspects introduced Devolution.
