Nakuru Human Rights Defender and DCP Nakuru Branch Secretary General Simon Ole Nasieku has weighed in on the new IEBC team.
Addressing press on Tuesday July 15, 2025, Ole Nasieku called on the team to serve Kenyans with due diligence adding that what Kenyans want is a credible elections.
He added that this is the only gift that IEBC can give Kenyans come 2027.
“We are calling on the newly constituted IEBC led by Chair to ensure that they deliver credible elections come 2027,” he stated.
Nasieku at the same time took issue with some sentiments from a section of political leaders, majority of whom are in government.
According to him, such sentiments are aimed at plunging the country into dark days witnessed in 1992 and 2007 post election violence.
He called on politicians to be careful and tame their sentiments when talking about the 2027 general polls.
“Leaders should be careful with their sentiments especially touching on general polls lest we plunge this country into chaos,” he stated.
Nasieku also told off Former Prime Minister and ODM Leader Raila Odinga for joining Kenya Kwanza Government in what was termed as broad-based government.
According to Nasieku, this has seen Kenyans surfer with increased cases of abductions and murder in the hands of police.
He at the same time called on government to stop tribal and community profiling, but rather focus on unity of all Kenyans ahead of 2027 polls.
