Nakuru Woman Rep Liza Chelule has called for thorough investigations into the child trafficking and sexual abuse at Mai Mahiu in Naivasha.
This follows an exposé by BBC media that indicated that children were being used as sex tools.
Speaking in Kuresoi North over the weekend, MP Chelule called on the investigating agencies tasked with the job to ensure they deep digger into the issues.
The Lawmaker regretted that such incidents can happen at the current dispensation.
She was quick to point out that once investigations are completed, those found culpable should face the full wrath of law.
“We know the matter is under investigation. We are optimistic that DCI and other agencies will do a great job so that we can know what transpired and those found culpable can be prosecuted,” stated Chelule.
Chelule also used the moment to call for a collective responsibility in safeguarding morals and protection of Children Rights.
According to her, parenting should be a collective responsibility, and not only left to parents or teachers.
It should be noted that Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika also formed a seven-member committee to work closely with the national government in addressing the issue.
The team is led by County CECM for Health Roslyne Mungai.
