Nakuru Woman Rep Aspirant Asumpta Wangui lauds Court Judgement over War Memorial hospital tussle

Nakuru Woman Rep Aspirant Asumpta Wangui has welcomed Thursday’s Court decision on the tussle that has been there over Nakuru War Memorial hospital and the 27-Acre land.

The DCP Aspirant who has been vocal on the matter that saw her attacked by goons, termed the Judgement a win.

Wangui joined other leaders from DCP brigade in Nakuru among them Secretary General Simon Ole Nasieku and Strategist Dr. Peter Mbae in unlocking the gates of the facility that had been not operating since the tussle commenced.

The leaders vowed to ensure that no public land in Nakuru ends up in the hands of grabbers.

Sentiments echoed by Lawyer Lawrence Karanja who termed the Judgement a win and justice for the facility.

“Today, 15th October 2026, marks a significant moment in the legal battle surrounding Nakuru War Memorial Hospital,” stated Karanja.

The Lawyer who was present at the Environment and Land Court sitting in Olkalou Law Courts in Nyandarua stated “As counsel representing the hospital in this case, I am pleased to note the court’s determination that the 27-acre parcel of land on which the facility stands is private property. The court has ordered the County Government to vacate the land and issued an injunction restraining interference with the affairs of the facility.”

He added that despite at least six court orders previously directing the hospital’s reopening, the facility has remained shut, denying members of the public access to essential healthcare services.

This prolonged closure he said has raised serious concerns about the rule of law, the protection of property rights and the welfare of wananchi who depend on the hospital.

According to Karanja, this case has never been merely about land. It is also about justice, accountability, respect for court orders and the protection of an institution that has served the people of Nakuru.

“As a lawyer, I firmly believe that court orders must be respected and that justice must prevail, regardless of the interests involved. The law must protect property rights, uphold due process and ensure that public institutions and private entities alike operate within the law,” he said.
