
Nakuru County is set to host World Safari Rally 2025.
Hundreds of youths, traders and artists are set to benefit from the World Rally Championship Safari Rally set to be held from March 20 to 23, 2025 in Naivasha, Nakuru County.
This World prestigious events is set to be held in the country for the fifth consecutive year since the WRC series returned to Kenya in 2021 and is expected to have a big positive impact on the local economy.
Speaking during a key consultative meeting with the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Salim Mvurya, PS for Sports, Eng. Peter Tum, County Leadership and the Rally organizing committee, Nakuru Deputy Governor David Kones emphasized the importance of full community involvement in the preparations and execution of the event.
He stressed the need to ensure that local residents, particularly youth, reap tangible rewards from this global event.
Sentiments that were echoed by Local leaders who expressed concerns that previous rallies have not adequately addressed the needs of the local community in terms of job creation and economic opportunities.
They called for concrete measures to ensure that the event translates into tangible benefits for the youth, traders, and artists of Naivasha and other lasting positive projects for the community beyond the duration of the rally.
The meeting was also attended by Nakuru County Woman Rep Liza Chelule, Naivasha MP Jane Kihara, County Executive Josephine Achieng (Sports), Chief Officers Joyce Ncece (Public Health), Charles Gacheru, CEO WRC Safari Rally Kenya, MCAs led by the area MCA Virginia Wamaitha among other senior government officials and partners.
