Mututho’s Advisory to embattled DP Gachagua: Resign to avert shame of impeachment motion

Former Naivasha MP John Mututho has advised Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to resign rather than wait for the wrath of MPs who seem to have already made up their mind to impeach him.

Addressing Journalists in Nakuru CBD on Tuesday October 1, 2024, Mututho pointed out that in doing so he will have redeemed himself from the shame of impeachment.

He was however quick to state that the political wrangles between President Ruto and Deputy Rigathi, only the two know the synopsis and how it all started.

“The two know each other even during campaigns and because my advice was not sought, then let everyone carry their own cross. I personally behave like a lion brave, intelligent and fight my own battles and at the moment I have no battle,” stated Mututho.

His sentiments coming at a time when MPs are expected to debate impeachment motion against DP Gachagua once tabled in the National Assembly.

Mututho has called on MPs to ensure whatever they do in the House is within the confines of the Constitution and decorum.

“Whatever they are doing, let it be within the confines of the House. They should not speak in public what is not meant for public consumption,” he said.

He at the same cautioned residents of Rift Valley and particularly leaders in Nakuru to stop taking the wrangles between the President and the DP as if it is Rift Valley or Nakuru issue.

According to him, leaders in Nakuru should focus on service delivery to the people.

“I want to caution my people particularly our leaders in Nakuru. The fall-out of Gachagua is not a declaration of war in Rift Valley. We are aware that there were pre-election deals, and if there was none so be it. We will have new deals in the next general election,” he stated.
