Nakuru County Assembly Member for Mosop Ward Alex Langat has urged residents to be peace ambassadors as as the country gears up towards 2027 general elections.
Speaking in his Ward during a prayer meeting with area Pastors’ Fellowship, the civic leader reiterated the importance of peace, before, during and after the general polls.
While noting that Nakuru is a cosmopolitan county that has a great say on matters national politics, MCA Langat pointed out that religious leaders are also key towards shaping the morals of the nation.
The meeting that served as a moment of spiritual reconnection, brought together Bishops, Reverends and pastors from various denominations and churches.
They came together with one agenda- to pray for peace and continued prosperity of Mosop Ward.
“Mosop generally has all tribes and all religious denominations and therefore we felt it good to meet and pray for peace to prevail as we move forward,” he stated.
The MCA also noted that there has been rampant cyber crimes and political intolerance in various gatherings hence the meeting was paramount to identify the areas that need to be enhanced.
He called on fellow leaders to tame their teams and ensure their utterances do not plunge the ward, county and nation into political turmoil.
Sentiments echoed by the spiritual leaders who also asked all politicians to be respectful to the alters by spreading messages of hope and peace without disrespecting each other in churches and in public functions.
Led by the Chair Bishop Dr. John Gatata, the clergy made a declaration to be peace ambassadors in Mosop and Kenya as a whole.
It should be noted that Mosop Ward is found in Rongai Sub county of Nakuru County.
Rongai generally is a cosmopolitant area with all tribes and for any meaningful development to thrive peace is paramount.
