When she ventured into politics for the first time towards the August 9, 2022 General elections, many Nakurians thought Irene Njoki had made a wrong calculation.
Njoki who was then a civil servant, had to resign and venture fully into the task ahead-that of politics.
She chose to contest Bahati Parliamentary seat on a Jubilee Party against the waive of United Democratic Alliance Party that was sweeping across Nakuru County.
Irene, a first timer in politics chose the slogan ‘Mrembo Na Kazi’ and with a very dedicated campaign strategy team and good rapo with media fraternity in Nakuru, she also became a waive that could no be ignored in Bahati Constituency.
With proper coordination and severally traversing the vast Bahati Constituency with on a well managed campaigns, the ‘Mrembo Na Kazi’ became a household slogan giving her an upper hand against the then Incumbent Kimani Ngunjiri who was trying to defend his seat on UDA ticket.
As fate would have it, she was able to unseat Ngunjiri.
In an earlier interview, the first time Lawmaker maintained that she has only one agenda to make Bahati Constituency better.
And true to her word and in line with her christened name ‘Mrembo Na Kazi’, MP Irene Njoki continues to live by her Word.
Under a hashtag Mrembo Na Kazi Mashinani, the first time Lawmaker has rolled out several infrastructure projects to help improve roads in her constituency.
She has also embarked on transforming schools’ infrastructure through NG-CDF kitty.
On matters security, she is closely working with both sub-county and County security team to restore sanity in all the Wards of Bahati Constituency.
Recently, she was on record for ensuring full scholarship for over 20 most needy students.
The soft-spoken MP Njoki believes in servant leadership and honesty- virtues that she says are key towards transformation of society.
She is an Alumni of Naivasha Girls Secondary between 1991 and 1994, and a holder of MBA in Strategic Management from Daystar University.
Besides, she is also a holder of Bachelor of Commerce from Africa Nazerene University.
She has skills in administration with her focus being in health and infrastructure.
Before venturing into politics, Njoki served in various positions and Parastatals among them Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Health, National Industrial Credit Bank and New Stanley Hotel as Personal Assistant.
