A Nakuru MCA has called on young people and moreso Gen Zs to organize themselves in political formations that can mentor and ensure their voice are heard.
Hassan Duale who was nominated to the County Assembly of Nakuru by UDA party in 2022, has revisited the conversation of Gen Zs whom during anti-government protests claimed they are ‘political partyless’.
According to Duale, political formations are key in driving the agenda in this country and they are tools that one can align with to rocket to any political position in the country.
Duale was speaking on Monday May 12, 2025 at the County Assembly of Nakuru during the inauguration of South Rift Regional KYMCA Youth Bunge.
“Allow me to tell my friends Gen Zs that political parties are key. You cannot say you are leaderless or partyless. The political parties give you identity and propel you. So my advise to young people is for them to be in political formations for identification,” he stated.
The event saw the young delegates from over 5 counties in South Rift Region elect their Youth Bunge leadership.
Duale stated that the resolutions of the Youth Bunge delegates will now be followed up by Kenya Young Members of County Assemblies(KYMCA) at the National level.
He used the moment to thank Governor Susan Kihika for supporting the initiative, citing it a great empowerment of young people in Nakuru County and the nation at large.
Sentiments echoed by Luke Opwora who is the chairman KYMCA Alumni and current political advisor to Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka.
He said the aim of the Youth Bunge is to unite young people and ensure one voice of purpose.
“We have youth who have aspirations come 2027 and this movement is to empower them,” he stated.
He added that the movement shall be rolled out in all the regions in the country.
The KYMCA alumni also used the moment to commend President William Ruto over the new formation of IEBC where a young person from Lamu was also considered.
According to him, this is a new sawn for the country and called on all Kenyans to rally behind President William Ruto’s administration towards re-election.
Samburu County KYMCA coordinator MCA Nareiyo Stacey on her part lauded Nakuru county for hosting the event that will go a long way in shaping the political landscape.
She challenged young people especially female gender to fight for their rights.
“We want to involve youths and ensure they are on the negotiation table. I call on Ladies to show up and not shy away from the elective positions,” she stated.
