Biashara Ward MCA Fadhili Msuri has called on contractor working on Wakulima Market access road to stick to timelines.
Addressing press in Nakuru CBD, MCA Fadhili noted that some traders have been relocated temporary to pave way for the work.
“We are telling the contractor to stick to he timelines so that the traders relocated can go back to their areas of operation,” stated MCA Fadhili.
The MCA also told off his competitors for engaging in propaganda over the project.
He urged them to keep politics out of the projects that was initiated after fruitful public participation.
It should be noted that Nakuru County has temporarily relocated a section of traders from Wakulima Market in Biashara Ward to the Mosque Road section to facilitate cleaning, drain rehabilitation, and concreting of the market’s access road.
This move follows a successful public participation engagement with the traders, who agreed to vacate the market for a 30-day period to allow a contractor to commence the market improvements. The rehabilitation efforts are expected to significantly improve the working environment at Wakulima Market.
The County Secretary Dr. Samuel Mwaura, accompanied by County Executive for Trade Stephen Kuria, visited the temporary relocation site to assess the situation and ensure all affected traders have been allocated space.
Following a thorough verification exercise, they assured any traders who have not yet secured a spot that allocations would be provided to all those affected.
Dr. Mwaura further appealed to the members of the public and businesses adjacent to Mosque Road for their patience and understanding, requesting them to accommodate the temporarily relocated traders.
He emphasized that the County is working to complete the market rehabilitation and restore normalcy to the area as quickly as possible.
Also present were City Manager Gitau Thabanja, Biashara Ward MCA Fadhili Msuri, Enforcement Director Charles Nyanaro, Martin Gichinga from the office of the Governor and the market leadership.
