Kivumbini MCA Neto Sakwa urges parents to ensure ECDE age bracket learners are enrolled in centres

Kivumbini Ward MCA Neto Sakwa has called on parents in the cosmopolitan Ward to ensure their children who have attained the age of attending ECDE are enrolled in schools within the Ward and neighbourhood.

Reiterating the need for children who have attained age of 3½  years to be enrolled in ECDE centres, Sakwa noted that early childhood education is key in shaping the foundation of a child.

MCA Sakwa has been in forefront in ensuring any matter relating to education is given priority it deserves ensuring that each child is entitled for right to education.

Already, the office of the MCA has had a lengthy discussion with 5 Primary School heads in Kivumbini Ward.

The aim according to the MCA is to allow  any child within the bracket of 3½ years and above to be enrolled in various ECDE centres.

The initiative is already manifesting positively with ECDE centres within Kivumbini Ward already enrolled more than 20 new pupils in a span of 3 days, age bracket between 3½ -5years.

The MCA has also had conversations with school heads on issue of school fees and uniforms, the heads to be a bit tolerant and just allow the pupils to be enrolled first as the office of MCA seeks the best way to address the same.

It is an intitiative that will help improve enrollment in the ECDE centres which in the past has been low despite having qualified teachers employed either by County government or BOM.

“We encourage the citizens within our ward and estates bordering our jurisdiction to take the pupils in the above age bracket and enrol them on Monday when they resume after mid-term break,” stated the MCA.
