Dandelion Africa NGO is marking 15 years of operation.
The NGO was started in 2009 by one Wendo Aszed with an aim to work with communities in health and economic Empowerment.
Before the NGO was started in Mogotio, women in rural areas were facing numerous challenges of accessing healthcare services.
The NGO came to give hope to women and girls in Mogotio and Rongai.
The NGO has an office and clinic at Mogotio Centre in Baringo as well as Health facility at Sarambei village in Nakuru County.
The maternity wing at Sarambei facility has continued to play key role in supporting Maternal health services.
Women no longer have to walk longer distances in accessing the same as it used to be before.
According to Director Wendo, the joy of seeing women access these services is what makes her happy.
“When we see these women access health services I feel proud,” stated Wendo.
Currently, the NGO has extended their operations in several counties among the Baringo, Nakuru and Narok.
While noting that it’s Dandelion @15, Wendo revealed that as a organization they had to do something special through education sharing.
Women from counties of operation visited eco-sites and farming institutions in Nakuru to learn about smart agriculture as well as other farming activities.
“The beauty of knowledge is that no one can take it away from you. That is why we have invested in knowledge. Women from four counties visited eco-sites and farming institutions to learn about smart agriculture, permaculture, poultry, sheep, dairy goat farming, and beekeeping.”
They gained first-hand experience on how to increase production and ways to capitalize on their produce.
“We are excited to see the economic milestones these women will achieve in the coming years,” the organization stated.
