Government commences boundary demarcation process for Mau East complex

The government has commenced the process of boundary demarcation for Mau East complex.

The process entails a survey towards marking the East Mau Forest and settlement scheme boundaries.

This is targeting Njoro and Molo Sub counties of Nakuru.

Njoro MP Charity Kathambi launched the exercise on Friday April 25, 2025 during a public meeting held at Nessuit.

“This morning, I launched the introduction of a survey of the Kenya team for the assignment to mark the East Mau forest and settlement Scheme boundaries targeting Njoro and Molo constituencies,” she said.

This exercise follows the environment and land court ( ELC ) ruling ( September 30th 2024) on Mau Forest settlements.

The Judge said the Legal Notice No. 142 of October 8, 2001, which was never revoked, should be implemented.

He directed the Government to, within a period of 12 months from the date of the Judgment, establish and delineate the forest boundaries within the Settlement Schemes by placing physical and visible beacons on the ground.

The meeting at Nessuit was also attended by Deputy County Commissioners from Njoro and Molo, Njoro and Molo Sub County Police Commanders, Nessuit ward MCA, Mauche ward MCA , Marishoni MCA and Kiptororo MCA.
