Dr. Isaac Newton Kinity differs with Matiang’i over calls for inquiry into River Yala bodies

Counsellor and Human Rights activist Dr. Isaac Newton Kinity has differed with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i over calls for inquiry into River Yala bodies incident.

Dr. Kinity argues that the then President Uhuru Kenyatta, the then Deputy President William Ruto and the then Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i should provide Kenyans with the names of all those whose bodies were recovered in River Yala during their tenure.

“Uhuru Kenyatta was the president of Kenya when the Kenyans’ dead bodies were dumped at the Yala River. William Ruto was the deputy president of Uhuru Kenyatta, and Fred Matiangi was the minister for internal security,” stated Dr. Kinity.

In a Press release on Tuesday June 30, 2026, Dr. Kinity who has declared interest in the 2027 Presidential race, revealed that the DCI already took fingerprints and the DNA of all the victims of the Yala river massacre as the first step of identifying a dead body.

He is convinced that the DCI must have handed over the names of all those whose bodies had been dumped at river Yala to the authorities above them after identifying the bodies.

“So, Uhuru Kenyatta, William Ruto, and Fred Matiangi were the Kenyans in high authority and in power who were responsible for the matters of security in Kenya. They know the whole truth of what happened. The three should reveal the truth and provide the names of all those whose bodies were recovered at the Yala River.

According to him, the trio should also provide Kenyans with the exact findings of the investigations of those absurd murders.

Dr. Kinity who is also the Chairperson Kikimo Foundation for Corruption and Poverty
Eradication, argues that completed results of the findings by the DCI must have been handed over to the the authority.

He adds that Kenyans should not be fooled with a non-starter public inquest, which would never release any findings to the public.

“Why are they hiding the truth from Kenyans? Why are they trying to fool Kenyans?. They should tell Kenyans the truth. How and why has it been happening in Kenya that no politically motivated murders have ever been unearthed or investigated into fruition since the independence of Kenya in 1963?,” he questioned.

The former Unionist opines that there have been so many commissions of inquiries into political murders and so many public inquests carried out in decades, but none of them had any findings released to the public.

He has called on Kenyans to stand up and say no to the inquest being advocated by Dr. Matiang’i.

“How genuine will the inquest currently advocated by Fred Matiangi be different from all those other commissions of inquiries conducted before, whose findings remain a mystery up to this day?.,” he concluded.
