Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Nakuru County Secretary General Simon Ole Nasieku now wants National Cohesion and Integration Commission(NCIC) empowered to have mandate to vet Politicians before polls.
Nasieku says there has been a trend of hate speech among political class from across the political wings with no action taken against them.
The DCP Nakuru SG says to end this impunity, there is need for amendment of NCIC laws through Parliament so that the body can be added mandate of vetting politicians.
According to Nasieku all politicians engaging in hate speech should be barred from contesting any seat in general polls.
“We are calling on the NCIC leadership to ensure that they take to Parliament amendments so that the commission can be added mandate of vetting politicians before polls. Those who are found guilty of hate speech from President to MCA should not be allowed to contest any seat,” stated Nasieku.
Nasieku was speaking in Nakuru Town after Nakuru Town East Parliamentary Aspirant Ben Kihanya alias Mlala hoi had been summoned by NCIC over a petition he did to DCI, EACC and IEBC challenging sentiments made by Wajir Woman Rep Fatuma Jehow recently that President William Ruto must win and if he happen to have no votes they will know where the votes will come from.
Nasieku has strongly faulted such utterances adding that they are meant to cause tension in the country.
According to Nasieku, leaders from all political formations should focus on unity of all Kenyans.
