CS Duale, MP Kathambi, DG Kones lead Nakurians in tree planting exercise in Njoro

About 60,000 trees were on Friday May 10,2024 planted in Njoro Sub county, Nakuru County.

Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, Njoro Member of Parliament Charity Kathambi and Nakuru Deputy Governor David Kones led the exercise at Sururu Forest in Mau Narok Ward.

This was in line with President William Ruto’s directive that declared Friday May 10 a public holiday and tree planting in honour of the Floods victims.

The government has a target of planting 15 billion trees towards mitigating climate change effects.

Duale called on Kenyans to make it lifestyle planting trees whenever they have time.

Sentiments echoed by MP Kathambi who has been passionate on matters environment conservation.

The MP lauded the Kenya Defence Forces and other stakeholders for role played in the exercise.

“We recognize the important role played today by Kenya Defence Forces, Greenbelt movement, Kenya forest service, Equity Bank among others,” she stated.

Other leaders present were, Nakuru County Commissioner, Njoro Deputy county commissioner, Njoro Sub county Police Commander, Chairperson Greenbelt Movement, Mau Narok MCA among others.
