Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Co-operative and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Simon Chelugui has lauded President William Ruto for appointing David Kiplagat Kerich as Ambassador to Washington DC, USA.
In a statement to newsrooms on Saturday, March 9, 2024, Chelugui termed Kerich a person who is up to the task.
“I seize this moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency President Dr. William Ruto for the distinguished appointment of David Kiplagat Kerich as Ambassador to Washington-DC, United States of America( USA),” read part of the statement.
CS Chelugui expressed optimism in Mr. Kerich as a man of remarkable legal prowess, a true team player, and a paragon of principled leadership.
He noted that During the arduous days of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), he had the privilege of sharing a word of advice with Mr. Kerich at the Serena Hotel and that his sharp memory and keen awareness of a critical advert from the Nation Media Group significantly influenced the trajectory of BBI proceedings, particularly in Baringo, where it became the first and only county to reject the document without hesitation.
The CS revealed that in 2018, while serving as Cabinet Secretary for Water and Sanitation, Mr. Kerich, alongside the esteemed Kituro Church Priest and leaders, embarked on a transformative journey.
Together, they forged a formidable alliance that resulted in the construction of the iconic 42 million Catholic Church in Kituro, marking a significant milestone in our community’s history.
“Furthermore, in 2017, amidst the challenges of electoral defeat, Mr. Kerich and I united forces. Our collaboration, though at the expense of losing certain friendships, bore fruit with the successful election of Kerich as the second Speaker of Baringo County Assembly,” he stated.
He used the opportunity to extend his warmest congratulations to his friend, Ambassador-designate David Kiplagat Kerich assuring that he carries with him not only his prayers but also my utmost respect and confidence.
