Nakuru Town West MP Samwel Arama has called on security team led by County Commissioner Loyford Kibara to beef up security in Nakuru.
Addressing press in Nakuru on Friday morning, the Lawmaker refuted claims of curfew being imposed in Nakuru, adding that such a move can only be made by Interior Cabinet Secretary, but he has not done so.
He pointed out that security team has a mandate to ensure security of the residents including business people.
According to Arama, Kenyans are going through difficult times in terms of economy and therefore security team should work towards ensuring safety of businesses towards economic growth.
“The security team led by County Commissioner should work to ensure safety of businesses. You cannot tell Nakuru residents to shut businesses. What will they eat? I think the security team should up their work and ensure safety of the people,” he stated.
The vocal Lawmaker empathized with business people who lost their goods to looters during the recent demonstrations.
According to Arama, the GenZs were inorder to demonstrate, but destruction and looting of properties should be condemned.
He also used the opportunity to call on Nakuru West residents to remain peaceful and go on with their duties and businesses for the growth.
His sentiments come at a time that rumours had it that a curfew shall be imposed in Nakuru due to rising insecurity.
