2 Journalists plead not guilty to charges of attacking and causing bodily harm to colleague in Siaya

Two Journalists have pleaded not guilty to charges of attacking and causing bodily harm to a colleague while on assignment in January, 2024.

The duo, George Ochieng Amolo of Ramogi FM and Mary Goretty Juma of K24 pleaded not guilty before the Siaya Law Courts on Tuesday after they were arrested on Monday evening.

They were charged with the offence of attacking and inflicting bodily harm on Josiah Omolo Odanga, a fellow journalist who, before suspension, was working for The Star newspaper under Radio Africa Group as a reporter based in Siaya.

The court granted the duo a bond of Ksh50,000 or Ksh20, 000 bail to secure their release pending the full prosecution of the case.

The pre-trial of the case has been set on March 26, 2024.

The charge sheet indicates that the duo had allegedly attacked Odanga at Karariw Primary School in Gem Constituency on January 20, 2024.
