Nakuru, Kenya – Over 50 young leaders from across the South Rift region converged at the Nakuru County Assembly for a powerful inauguration meeting organized under the Youth Bunge platform, an initiative to nurture youth leadership in Kenya.
Convened by Hon. Ali Hassan Abdi (Duale), a passionate advocate for youth empowerment, the meeting brought together young Members of County Assembly (MCAs) for training, mentorship, and strategic engagement. The event was held in partnership with the Kenya Youth Members of County Assembly (KYMCA) and was fully supported by Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika.
Hon. Duale emphasized that Youth Bunge is about preparing leaders for the future and equipping them to lead today. “This is a crucial space for mentorship and capacity building. Our young people are not just future leaders—they are changemakers of the present,” he said.
Governor Susan Kihika was applauded for her steadfast support of youth-centred programs, with Hon. Duale extending heartfelt gratitude for ensuring the success of the inaugural South Rift Youth Bunge meeting. He also praised KYMCA for its vision and consistent commitment to youth development.
Nakuru County CECM for Youth, Sports, Gender and Social Services, Josephine Achieng, graced the occasion and echoed the governor’s sentiments. She reminded participants that leadership begins with personal interest, a positive mindset, and the courage to take initiative. “Governor Kihika has opened the doors. Now it’s up to the youth to walk through them,” she said.
This initiative marks a significant milestone in the journey to deepen youth leadership in Kenya, especially at the grassroots level. With continued support from county governments and youth organizations, platforms like Youth Bunge are poised to transform the country’s political and civic landscape.
