He has become a household name in Nakuru County and Kenya as a whole owing to his way of approaching issues in Nakuru and the country.
This is none other than Dr Peter Mbae, the current DCP Secretary in-charge of Economic Planning and Strategy.
When he ventured into politics some time back, Dr Mbae successfully contested the Kabazi Ward seat in Nakuru County in 2017.
During his tenure as MCA, he sponsored several motions and bills on the floor.
Key among them is the Nakuru County Heroes Bill.
Dr. Mbae was also very vocal on matters touching Mwananchi, for instance during Solai Dam tragedy when he fought to ensure compensation for the victims of the tragedy.
Before then, Mbae served in Nakuru County Public Service Board as a member.
He would later on in 2022 unsuccessfully contest the Subukia Parliamentary seat.
The vocal Dr. Mbae was later appointed Head of Government Service Delivery Unit, a position he later resigned early this year citing frustration and lack of political goodwill.
He later joined former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua wing immediately after the impeached incident.
Dr. Mbae would then be appointed Secretary for Economic Planning and Strategy within Gachagua’s new political formation Democracy for Citizens Party(DCP).
He is seen as one of the great minds within DCP Party.
With a background in Leadership and Governance, Political Science, Media & Communication as well as Peace & Conflict Studies, Dr. Mbae is a leader who has understood various ways of approaching issues.
He recently together with others drafted a petition demanding that Kenya National Highways Authority(KENHA) comes out clear on various issues on the Rironi-Mau Summit Road project that is soon commencing.
Dr. Mbae has declared his interest in the Nakuru Senatorial seat on DCP party to unseat the current Senator Tabitha Karanja who was elected in 2022 on UDA Party.
He says he is up to the task and he is ready to battle it out with David Gikaria and Kimani Ngunjiri who have also declared interest in the seat.
However, political pundits argue that the Nakuru Senatorial seat will go with DCP because of the wave sweeping through the Mount Kenya region.
According to them, anyone outside will encounter difficult times to convince Kikuyus to vote otherwise.
Political Analyst Mwamba Kinyanjui argues that Dr. Mbae is best bet for the seat.
He adds that Mbae has been tested as a leader who can put his life online, citing the solai dam tragedy where he played key in defending the victims.
