Githima Market in Kaptembwa, Nakuru West Sub county will soon be operational.
This was revealed as Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama alongside County Executive for Trade Stephen Kuria and Francis Njogi from Governor Kihika’s political office and local business persons in the area toured the facility.
It should be noted that the facility has been lying idle with traders failing to occupy the same despite being a multimillion project.
During the tour, both MP Arama and the county agreed to ensure a few renovations at the Market towards operationalization.
Arama pointed out that among the renovations is to have a standard sanitation facility as well as do away with the perimeter wall that faces the main road.
The doing away with the perimeter wall would help ensure accessibility and that customers can have a view of the market even when outside on the road.l that passes by.
The MP further assured the traders that they will work with all suppliers of goods to ensure supply to the market that had been forgotten for many years.
Sentiments echoed by CECM Kuria who assured the traders of County government’s commitment towards their welfare.
The operationalization of the Githima Market will help save taxpayers’ money in the county that would have gone to waste if the market remained unoccupied.
It should be noted that the project was initiated by previous county government.
