A Nakuru high Court has made a ruling on the bursary petition.
The High Court Judge Mohochi Samuel Mukira in the ruling reinstated the conservatory orders in application regarding the issuance of bursaries.
Additionally, the Petition has been formally forwarded to the Chief Justice for the empanelment of a three-judge bench to hear the substantive matter.
However, the Counties of Nakuru and Murang’a, alongside the Attorney General, have been granted a 30-day stay of the conservatory orders, pending their appeal before the Court of Appeal.
This means the ruling doesn’t affect the Bursaries of this current financial year.
Speaking after the ruling, Petitioner Laban Omusundi termed it the second round win on the matter.
Musindi filed a petition seeking that the bursary be consolidated into one kitty under the National Government.
He argued that it was wrong for counties to issue bursary to learners beyond ECDE and Vocational Training TVET institutions that fall under the County in the devolved system.
