Founded in 2008 as a non-profit organization, the organization has continued to play key role in shaping lives through various programs
With main mandate to empower citizens, the state and non-state actors, the Organization continues to ensure inculcation of a culture of Human Rights, Peace & Security and Good Governance.
The Organization’s programs touches on these key aspects such as peace, security, Good governance as well as mental health.
One key fact is that MIDRIFT HURINET is one of the Civil Society Organizations in Nakuru that has continued to thrive.
For such, it calls for great leadership at the helm.
This is where one Mr. Joseph Omondi comes into the picture.
He is the current Executive Director MIDRIFT HURINET.
The soft-spoken Omondi is so passionate about matters good governance and constitutionalism.
He has spearheaded the organization to the level it is right now with positive impact being felt in Nakuru County through the various projects and programs being implemented by the Organization.
Mr. Omondi who once worked in a political office of the first Senator of Nakuru James Mungai, seems to have mastered the art of management especially in an Organization.
To him, team work, transparency and accountability are key virtues in running an Organization.
He has a team that he also works with among them Leonard Githae who is Deputy Director.
Others include: Christine Ouko and Bernard Odoyo(Finance), Moses Chavenye Calvin Muga, Catherine Wanderi, Derick Chestit, Walter Mwania, Jane Josiah, Beatrix Arusei, Teresa Abel, Tabitha Gathii, Eunice Pande (Programmes), Elizabeth Abyango, Pauline Thogo, Faith Nyanchama, Mitchelle Nasimiyu, Leslie Chelimo(Research and Monitoring and Evaluation), Jacob Karani, Moses Rabachi, Bernard Maranga, Judy Gathura(Communication and ICT), Britney Kwamboka, Millie Rono, Chebet Motelin, Sheila Njihia(Mental Health and Psychosocial Support).
In the Civil Society space, Omondi has been vocal on matters touching on Governance and constitutionalism and he always speaks his mind calling a spade a spade, and not a big spoon.
Under his leadership, MIDRIFT HURINET has continued to partner with several organizations within and without Nakuru towards making a better society through various programs and initiatives.
By the way besides office work, Mr. Omondi is a lover of football and Arsenal Fan.
He also loves reading literature materials, listening to reggae especially roots and rhumba music.
At one particular time he once stated, “As an Arsenal Fan I’m feeling the pain on behalf of Manchester United Fans”
And in forums, whenever he is coordinating the last session before lunch break, you will hear him state, “I know I’m standing between now and your lunch, but I will try to be brief” indeed a clear indicator that he is a man who respects the interests of the people.
