As Kenyans moreso the GenZs and civil society groups prepare to mark SabaSaba through demonstrations, Kuresoi North MP Alfred Mutai has made an appeal to constituents to maintain peace.
Through a press release, the MP noted that demonstrations and picketing as well as right to assemble is enshrined in the constitution.
He was however quick to point out that the freedom to demonstrate peacefully also come with responsibility.
While noting that Kuresoi has had history on matters violence, the Lawmaker was categorical that peace cannot be compared with any aspect, adding that it is paramount for stability of the economy.
“We have had history in Kuresoi and that is why we are saying let our people maintain peace. Those who will be joining the SabaSaba protests, let them also be peaceful,” he stated.
According to Mutai who is serving his first term as MP, looting and destruction of property is not part of a peaceful demonstrations.
It should be noted that SabaSaba is a day that Kenyans mark as far as democracy and journey of fight for democracy is concerned.
