Environment and Land Court at the Olkalou Law Courts in Nyandarua County has issued conservatory orders suspending any logging in Aberdare Forest pending further directions.

Justice Mugo Kamau in his ruling suspended any logging activity in the forest.
The Judge upon hearing the

Likewise the Law society of Kenya was equally
joined in the suit as the 10th Respondent , Nyandarua Forest conservation Association
also joined in the petition as the 9th Respondent in the suit.
Accordingly the petitioner was ordered to amend the petition to reflect this position within the next 14 days.
“That by consent the felling down of trees on the Aberdare Forest by any person holding or
not holding the license is henceforth be suspended until further orders of this court to be reinforced by the required Police Commander and Forest conservator. The court will visit the Aberdare Forest where the felling down of the trees is taking place on the 23/10/2026. All involved to meet at the court station on the said date at 9:30 A.M,” stated Justice Mugo.
The 1st Respondent will provide additional transportation of 5 4-wheel vehicles and
Regional Police Commander (Central) to provide security for the entire team.
The concervatory orders issued by Justice Mugo have been welcomed by locals in Olkalou and Nyandarua County as a whole.
Led by Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia who was among those who filed a case over the illegal logging in Aberdare, they stated that they are ready to follow up the matter.

She was however quick to point out that their case is not in any way meaning they are against the millers, but they want the legal process to be followed.
The Lawmaker called on residents to join hands in ensuring the water catchment area is protected.
It will be recalled that Nyandarua Senator John Methu who is also the Secretary General Democracy for the Citizens Party(DCP) has been on record strongly opposing ongoing logging and destruction in the Aberdare Forest, warning that it has reached catastrophic levels.
Senator Methu stated that the destruction of the Aberdare Forest—a vital water tower supplying water to Nyandarua and surrounding regions—is damaging local ecosystems.
Methu publicly challenged President William Ruto over the environmental impact, telling him that the continued destruction risks the country’s ecological future
