TODAY Let’s Celebrate and Pray for ARCHBISHOP MAURICE MUHATIA MAKUMBA of Kisumu Metropolitan.
Archbishop Muhatia was born on 19th May 1968, in Lirhanda village, under St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Shibuye, Kakamega County, Catholic Diocese of Kakamega.
After completing secondary school at St. Charles Lwanga, he joined St. Mary’s Major Seminary where he studied spirituality and introduction to seminary life. He studied Philosophy at St. Augustine Major Seminary Mabanga and Theology at St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary.
He was ordained a Priest for the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega on 15th October 1994.
He then went to Rome, Italy, where he obtained a bachelor’s Degree at Urbaniana Pontifical University and a master’s degree and Doctorate in philosophy at Pontifical Holy Cross University.
He ws later Appointed Archbishop of KISUMU Archdiocese on 18th February 2022 by Pope Francis and officially installed as the Archbishop of Kisumu on 19th March 2022.
Until his appointment, he was the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru, a position he held since 19th December 2009.
He is the current Chairman of Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) .
