
Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki has told off a section of individuals advising him to oppose some of the National Government’s policies on development.
Speaking when he hosted leaders from Tharaka Nithi County at his official residential in Karen, Kindiki told off critics adding that opposing government policies can only be done by those in opposition and not within Government.
He maintained that opposing government policies is not part of his job as Deputy President, and urged leaders to rally behind President William Ruto’s development agenda for the nation.
At the same, the DP told off former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over sentiments that President Ruto will be a one term President.
According to Kindiki, President Ruto is focused on development agenda and politics of division have no room at the moment.
Kindiki maintained that elected leaders, economic sectors stakeholders and grassroots leaders are important connecting points to ensure the priority development needs of the people across the 47 Counties are onboarded, any bottlenecks slowing down the pace of implementing the development programmes identified and removed promptly.
To facilitate speedier, seamless and successful implementation of Government policies, programmes and projects, the DP noted that regular consultations meetings will be convened between the National and County Governments to track progress of the ongoing and proposed development projects countrywide.
The meeting was attended by l Governor Muthomi Njuki, Senator Mwenda Gataya, Woman Representative Susan Ngugi, MPs; George Murugara (Tharaka), Kareke Mbiuki (Maara), Patrick Munene (Chuka Igambang’ombe), County Assembly Members led by Speaker John Mbaabu, former leaders, professionals and grassroots leaders were present.
National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot were also in attendance.
