Nakuru Town West MP Samwel Arama in an attempt to save Jua Kali Sector members from the land grabbers made unusual call to Nakuru GK Prison in-charge.
The MP in company of Francis Njoroge from Governor Susan Kihika’s political Affairs Office, London MCA Bernard Gatuso and Jua Kali Sector members led by their officials had visited controversial parcel of land in London.
The parcel is said to belong to Pioneer Jua Kali Sector members who history has it that they were given the 21-acre parcel by the late retired President Daniel Moi in 1980s.
However the land has had controversies on ownership, at one particular time they needed up in law courts.
The members sought the address of MP Arama over the matter and the MP who has his constituents at heart, called for several meetings in consultations with Governor Susan Kihika and security team.
On Monday June 23, the MP accompanied by other leaders and hundred of the Jua Kali Sector, made their way to asses the land.
On reaching there, they found maize plantation on the piece of land that borders Gioto dump site and AIC as well as the Nakuru-Kabarak Road.
When they tried to inquire it was said that the maize belonged to some officers from Prison department Nakuru.
The MP did not hesitate, but requested for the number of the in-charge Nakuru GK Prison.
What followed was a phone call to the officer as the officials of the Jua Kali addressed the press.
Though the MP moved some distance from the venue where the press was taking place, famousnakuru.co.ke has established that the conversation between the MP and the Prison officer majored on the owners of the maize plantation.
The MP later informed the members of Jua Kali Sector that the maize belonged to some officers of the Prison.
The MP however stated that the officers who had planted the maize had nothing to do with the wrangles over ownership of the 21-acre parcel.
From the meeting at site and the phone call conversation, it has been agreed that the maize shall be cleared in two weeks time, surveyors will be on ground and fencing of the land will take place.
