Central Regional Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha has called on public servants to ensure Kenyans receive prompt, quality services whenever they visit government offices.
Speaking after an impromptu visit to Nyeri Huduma Centre, Nkanatha emphasized that delays and long queues often reflect officer lethargy, not workload.
He urged civil servants to observe ethical conduct, official working hours, and accountability, noting, “Lethargy is a cancer that must be dealt with decisively.”
Centre Manager Maurice Barasa revealed that 3,500 uncollected ID cards remain at the facility and urged applicants to pick them up. He also noted ongoing registration of retirees into the new government pension portal, with 110 already enrolled this week.
The exercise follows a directive by National Treasury PS Dr. Chris Kiptoo requiring all pensioners to register by February 28, 2025, or risk suspension from the payroll.
The move aims to enhance pension efficiency, eliminate ghost beneficiaries, and streamline administration.
