A boost to tourism sector as county enters partnership with NaxCity Kenya Limited

Tourism is a sector that has great potential in Nakuru County.

As one way of boosting the tourism sector, the County Government of Nakuru has entered into partnership with NaxCity Kenya Limited.

NaxCity is a Nakuru-based based marketing and advertising agency.

The partnership in will see the mapping out, packaging and activation of the existing tourism sites and gems within the County.

Some of these sites are known while others are yet to be tapped into by both local and international tourists.

Speaking during the signing of the MoU, County Trade Executive Stephen Kuria lauded the move.

According to Kuria, this is a significant milestone that only underscores the County’s unwavering commitment in advancing the tourism sector.

He noted that the tourism sector has great potential towards economy development which in return benefit Nakurians.

The signed MoU between the Directorate of Tourism and Culture Nakuru County and NaxCity Kenya Limited that will boost marketing strategies for various Tourists’ attraction sites in Nakuru.

Kuria was accompanied by the Chief Officer for Tourism and Culture – John Koech who called on the need to embrace different marketing strategies to place Nakuru as a pure tourism destination.

On her part NaxCity  CEO Catherine Kanyi said the partnership will help in establishing Nakuru County as a premium Tourism destination.

She reiterating on the need for joint marketing efforts and mobilization of stakeholders in the Tourism Industry.

Already the County Government under the leadership of Governor Susan Kihika is planning to set up a tourism board.

The Board shall have mandate to  market and formulate policies governing the sector in the devolved unit.

The event was also attended by Assembly committee members for Trade led by their chairman Stanley Karanja, and NaxCity’s Director Joseph Muhika.

Also present were Ledicia Wanyonyi and Eric Muriuki (Directors, Culture), Benard Namunane (Director, Communication), Charles Gumbo (South Rift Deputy Regional Manager, Tourism Fund), Dancan Maina (Cluster General Manager, Sarova Woodlands Hotel), and officials from County Assembly and the County Government among others.
